Firstly, ensure that you buy quality coated mug blanks from us. Cheaper products may result in a sub-standard end result. That is why we recommend our brand of sublimation blanks.
Adjust the pressure of your mug press to medium and fully enclose the outside of the cup and set the temperature to 177 degrees Celsius and the timer to 240 seconds.
Use our quality heat tape to hold the print in place. If the print moves during the sublimation process it might not sublimate in the correct position, or even worse it might create undesirable shadows and ghost images.
Wait for the heat press to reach temperature, then carefully place the blank with the rear of the print facing outwards into the press surface and close the press firmly. Remember that pressure is key. Ensure that the mug handle isn’t touching the press as this may cause the ceramic to crack or shatter.
Once the preset time has elapsed, open the mug press and immediately remove the print from the blank. Be very careful as them mug will be incredibly hot. If the sublimation paper touches the blank mug again, you might end up with an undesired ghost image. So, a smooth transition and removal is key.
A final word:
Don’t hesitate to experiment on a mug blank first to ensure that your final product image is vibrant in colour and crystal clear. Also remember to practice and practice until you have mastered every single step.
