Why 8mm Is the Right Tape Width for Small Sublimation Blanks

Standard sublimation tape is typically 12mm, 20mm, or wider. Those widths work well on mugs, flat sheets, and garments where the print area is large enough that the tape sits comfortably on the border without overlapping the design. On small blanks the calculation changes. A rectangle metal keyring insert might be 25mm wide. A round keyring insert might be 30mm in diameter. Placing 20mm tape on a 25mm blank leaves almost no print area exposed without the tape crossing into the design. The 8mm sublimation tape heat resistant roll solves that problem directly. Eight millimetres is narrow enough to sit on the edge of even the smallest aluminium insert without overlapping the print surface. It holds the transfer paper firmly in position during pressing and releases cleanly afterward.

How to Use the 8mm Sublimation Tape

Position the printed transfer paper face down on the sublimation blank. Apply short strips of 8mm sublimation tape along the edges of the paper, keeping the tape on the border of the blank without crossing into the print area. Press at the correct temperature and time for the specific blank material. Allow to cool before removing the tape and peeling the transfer paper. The tape releases cleanly without adhesive residue when removed after cooling.
